Our History

Morton Memorial has a proud and distinctive history, planted over 135 years ago by the Methodist Episcopal Church South. We are the only former M.E. South church in Indiana. Our current building is the 3rd one Morton Church has called home. We have been through 2 denominational mergers, 3 changes of name, a flood, and a move from Jeffersonville to Clarksville. Through it all, God was faithful and the faithful people of Morton Church were blessed as they lived out John Wesley's charge "to spread scriptural holiness throughout the land."

But we're not just a church with a history. We're a church with a vital present. These web pages show us the images of the people and activities of Morton Church at the beginning of the 21st Century. We are people of all ages, shapes, sizes, and shades, but we share One Lord and One Savior of all mankind.

We are a church with a vision for the future, too. We are redeveloping ourselves and moving toward yet another relocation as a church with the purpose of "Developing Devoted Disciples Demonstrating God's Love."
